Most electrologists are entrepreneurs- independent professionals in private practice. Others choose to work in an electrology group practice, with allied health professionals, cosmetology-related home office environments. However you choose to practice, you can earn a substantial income and achieve the financial independence you've always desired. It is estimated that the average electrologist earns between $25,000 and $50,000 per year, maintaining the business hours of their choice.

Every entrepreneur needs to be a self-starter with an outgoing personality and the ability to communicate well with others. An electrologist who works alone must exhibit good business practices, manage a business with patient/client relationships, and be knowledgeable in record-keeping and marketing.

Obtaining an education in electrology is relatively inexpensive compared with other professions of similar income potential Individual state criteria range from no licensing to allowing only physicians to practice (i.e. West Virginia). In the State of Michigan electrology is presently licensed by the board of cosmetology. A state-approved curriculum with a total of 400 theory and practical hours is required in order to qualify for taking the state board licensing exam. The Livingston Electrolysis School strives to prepare students to meet national standards of care with a medical
oriented approach to treatment and diagnosis. Livingston Electrolysis School stresses endocrinology, dermatology, patient/client evaluation, proper sterilization, understanding gender dysphoria, physiological concerns of excess hair, business development, networking, and continuing education. Licensed electrologists are qualified to practice under the grandfather clause should licensing change to a medical classification.

Livingston Electrology School

Day Classes - Mon.-Sat. 8:30-4:30pm
Evening Classes - Mon.-Fri. 5:30-9:30pm
Hours may change per demand

Attendance: Minimum 12 hours per week, 3 hours per day. Three to six months to complete the course. You need to complete 400 hours for state licensing.

Tuition: $3100 includes $500 (non-refundable) registration. Starter pack of needles, forceps and books. Students are responsible for purchasing a white lab coat.

STUDENT BENEFITS

Supplies and equipment: Students are trained on epilators manufactured by Gentronics and Instantron. Livingston Electrolysis School offers special discounts and encourages students to purchase their epilator within six months of graduating, to maximize discounts offered. Electrolysis equipment is sold only to those who are trained and qualified in electrology at Livingston Electrolysis School or other schools. Estheticians, cosmetologists, salons or skin care clinics may purchase salon/clinic furniture and esthetic equipment at discounted prices through Livingston Electrolysis School.

Memberships: Because we are committed to excellence and have a strong conviction to a medically oriented continuing education program, Livingston Electrolysis School provides students with the following resources and membership in the Society of Clinical and Medical Electrologists (SCME website:www.scme.org). We encourage membership and involvement in the Electrolysis Association of Michigan (EAM), a state affiliate of the American Electrology Association (AEA website:www.electrology.com). Both AEA and SCME are professional membership organizations upholding the highest standards in the field of electrology. We also suggest membership in the public relations organization, the International Guild of Professional Electrologists (IGPE website: www.bworks.com/igpe)

Newsletters: After graduating, it is important for electrologists to stay updated, especially with the onset of LASER, PDT, and other new technology. Perspectives, a newsletter published by SCME, is one of the membership benefits of Livingston Electrolysis School students. EAM, AEA, IFGE also produce informative newsletters to help electrologists with their practice.

Environment: Today's educated consumer expects professionals to offer the best available. Students are exposed to and taught in the working environment of a successful independent clinical practice, Livingston Electrolysis School, where rigorous universal precautions using CDC standards of sterilization are routinely practiced. The clinic and training is provided in a small, professional building with the utmost in privacy and confidentiality. The instructor and practicing electrologist uphold the highest standards in electrology.

It is our endeavor to prepare students for state licensing as well as national board certification.
We utilize state of the art technology in education and equipment; teaching computerized,
automatic/flash and manual modalities of galvanic, thermolysis, blend, multiple-needle epilation,
anaphoresis, cataphoresis with one and two-handed insertion techniques. We educate students
on a comprehensive level with a medical orientation to become professional clinicians in this
growing paramedical field

Livingston Electrolysis School provides classroom and practical education with Livingston Electrolysis Schools to equipped treatment rooms, as well as multimedia educational tools to assist in mastering the concepts and understanding of the electrology profession.

Class size is limited to allow focus on students individual needs for skill & practice development. Instructor is a practicing electrologist willing to share her many years of expertise.
